Coming up on the MMH Front….

Hi all.

Just wanted to send out an update on what’s a’brewing in Magnolia MH business.  Good things!  Currently scoring a documentary short produced by an agency out of NY (can’t disclose until it’s wrapped) and edited by a production house in NOLA.  It’s a really awesome piece for Mayor Landrieu’s Nola For Life program.  Can’t wait to finish it up.  Also slated to score a webisode series coming up for a childrens’ cooking show.  Will be updating as things come up.

I just recently made a trip out to LA and spent a good 5 days there.  Visited friends and family.  Tried to mix in some meetups with other composers as well.  Patrick Kirst (http://www.patrickkirst.com/) and I have become friends from the several trips I’ve made to LA in the last 4 years (worked a couple internships in ’08).  Was invited to a panel hosted by Patrick, 2 other composers, a music supervisor, and a music editor.  Very interesting what they had to say about a lot of things.  Specifically about publishing rights in the US and abroad, and how different the deals can pan out.  Fight for your rights!!!!  Also met up with Alice Nicholas Wood (http://www.alicenicholaswood.com), a Jackson native (like myself) living in LA.  She’s done some really cool work too.  Listen!

The New Orleans Film Festival is coming up.  BJ and I will both have films we’ve worked on this year premiered in the festival.  Look for Louisiana Shorts.  Also, several FSU Thesis films we’ve scored are touring the festival circuit.  Exciting to know people are seeing these films, hearing our music.  Should have a list of the festivals soon.

For now, I’m throwing up some new stuff on my playlist.  We’ll be compiling some new clips to put in the video section on the home page soon too.  Keep in touch!

Some Shout Outs

Good morning, everyone!

By now, you’ve had time to indulge in the many wonders of our new website.  You’ve checked every page from top to bottom, listened to every track, liked and followed us on facebook and twitter, and told every single person you know about us.  Right?  Excellent.

I think, however, it’s important that you know who’s responsible for the site and its fresh new looks.  Back in 2010, the first site was created by our good friends, Dale Ramdeen and Kenny Wuerstlin, who did the coding and logos/layout respectively (Kenny also made out lovely business cards).  Using an updated version of the logo and some new graphics of his own, Dale created the new look we have today, and we sure do love it.  So BRAVO to the boys in Athens (did I mention they live in Athens, GA?…they live in Athens, GA).  Find out more and how they can help you look good too!  Follow the links:

In other news, Joe and I are busy working on the scores for a handful of FSU films.  There’s a lot of talent in that school and we are really happy to involved.  We’ll be sure to put up some tracks, and if we’re lucky, maybe even some video.  Joe is also on the road for the next week playing keys with MyNameIsJohnMichael  http://mynameisjohnmichael.com/)…so find out if they’re playing near you and go have a good time.

Have a good weekend!!

Sound the trumpets and wake the children!

It is our pleasure to officially welcome you to the new and improved Magnolia Music House website!  We decided  it was time for a makeover, and we wanted something that not only looked sharp, but got straight to the point:

Homemade music made just for you.

We’ll keep this post short and sweet, but you can be sure the new site will have plenty of updates on this (NEW!) blog with info and news on, not just our work, but the world of film scoring in general and maybe even some fun lagniappe.  We also plan to have a stronger social presence on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow us on both (just click the f and the Bird at the bottom of the page if you can’t find us).  And as always, we’ll add updates on new music and any footage we’re able to post.

Obviously, we’ll be fine tuning the new look and content as we go, but we were ready to share it with y’all.  So poke around, have a listen, and check back often!  We promise there is plenty more to come!

Cheers,

BJ & Joe
